TIPS FOR STAYING PRODUCTIVE

Updated: Jun 26, 2021

With more time spent at home, it can be difficult to stay productive especially with so many distractions that can be found in the comfort of your home. I wanted to put together my top 3 tips for staying productive during this time. Reach out to us on Instagram direct messages if any of these tips help you or if you have any other tips you would like us to add to our Instagram stories!

1. Plan your Day

The best way to stay on task with all this time spent online, is planning out your day. Whether it's the night before, or the morning of, planning out the tasks you need to complete and the time limit you want complete them gives you a competitive advantage.

I know this is a very popular way to stay productive but it actually works because you hold yourself accountable with time limits and write it down. Planning your day can always overlap from top priority tasks just written in a planner and then an actual breakdown of the day in the notes app, written on paper, or on a document. Planning your day is so important because it gives you a structure that keeps you focused and with allocated breaks and you will find that you get so much more work done.

2. Use the Pomodoro Technique

The Pomodoro Technique is a great method to complete tasks that Elektra and I both use on a daily basis. This is a way to study efficiently because the timed blocks are 25 minutes long so just enough time to give all your effort to a task and then take a 5 minute break. So set a timer, start your task and work for 25 minutes straight. Then, when the buzzer rings put a checkmark on your to-do list/ paper and take a 5 minute break. This method is great for a task that you are procrastinating because even if it might take longer than 25 minutes, once you start and complete that first pomodoro round, you are motivated to continue working through it. This is also a great technique for completing tasks at home because you stay focused and are not as tempted to procrastinate or scroll on your phone because you know there is that break and 25 minutes is a great time limit for focus.

The pomodoro technique also works well for difficult tasks such as organic chemistry as seen in this photo. It's better to complete difficult tasks early in the day and within a time limit so you can enjoy the rest of your day.

3. Take Quality Breaks

The best way to stay productive is with efficient breaks. These breaks include proper lunches in between school/ work, small breaks during work time, and a slightly longer break when a large task is completed. Taking breaks is important for focus and attention which you will need to stay productive when completing other tasks for the day.

During breaks try having some water, a snack, and getting some movement or light exercise in. During breaks you can still connect with friends and family because it's great to surround yourself with people that motivate you.

Staying comfortable on days where you feel like you are in need of a chill day is great. This is why we take active steps to promote productivity into your lifestyle by inspiring you to take steps that you feel best fit you!

To end on this post, a schedule is great and so is completing work but remember to add productivity into your lifestyle so you can remain happy and productive.

xoxo stay chic,

Elena
